NEWS: GIZ organises workshop on strengthening SBCC capacities of SHAs

GIZ’s Indo-German Programme on Universal Health Coverage organised a two-and-a-half-day workshop on ‘Strengthening Capacities of State Health Agencies’ from May 9 to 11, 2022. The workshop organised with support from the National Health Authority (NHA) saw participation from eight states – Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Dr. Bhuvanesh Pratap Singh, CEO, SHA-Jharkhand who welcomed the participants and motivated them to inspire each other and get inspired from each other during the workshop.
Dr. R.S Sharma, CEO, NHA also joined the workshop virtually to give opening remarks to the participants. Mr. Amit Paliwal, Program Manager, GIZ-IGUHC also welcomed the participants virtually and helped in setting the context of the workshop.

The main objective of the workshop was to introduce the officials from the participating states to the scientific approach adopted in Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC). SBCC Expert with over 25 years of work experience Mr. Dharmendra Singh moderated the workshop and trained the participants in the various techniques of SBCC.
The workshop was custom-designed for the IEC officials of PM-JAY scheme to employ innovative and effective tools for scheme dissemination. The participants were initially familiarised with the basic framework of strategy /roadmap development and were later asked to work in smaller groups to develop state-specific IEC action plans (with local considerations) under guidance of the expert. Workshop culminated into submission of annual IEC roadmaps/action-plans developed by the participating states.
