GIZ jointly hosted a conference entitled ‘From Jan Dhan to Jan Suraksha – Conference on Old Age Security in India’.

HelpAge India and GIZ’s IGSSP have been working together since 2012 and organised the National Level Conference in order to bring together decision makers from the Government, private sector, civil society and other institutions with the specific objective to discuss challenges related to demographic change and the ageing population. The objective was to exchange ideas, and discuss solutions – from social to contributory pensions, from self-help approaches to comprehensive social security systems for today’s elderly and the elderly to-be. Together with HelpAge India, the programme has set up more than 900 elderly self-help groups with a total of 12,400 members in the state of Bihar.
